But this is what I see,
What comes to me.
And though scary to share,
That’s what I need to do.
Ultimately, all I have to give
Is my truth.
My poems ask questions. Sometimes these questions are implied
and indirect. Sometimes they are clear, specific and direct. I believe that
questions are an essential part of our continued exploration and growth. It can
be difficult to find answers if we don’t listen for and ask the questions.
All of these poems – and questions – are created from a
place of emotional probing about key issues of the human condition. As such,
they will hopefully support readers to be inspired and motivated to ask their
own questions and find their own answers, and in the process, move toward
greater authenticity, self-expression and empowerment.
I have included suggested questions before each poem. I
invite you to ask yourself these questions, perhaps before and/or after reading
the poem. And I invite you to allow time to contemplate some answers.
"Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak. Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." Winston Churchill
